1997-born white rhino Otto, known for fathering six calves at Colchester Zoo, has died.
White rhino Otto, known for his big personality, has died at Colchester Zoo in Essex. Born in 1997, he arrived at the zoo in 2009 from Knuthenborg Safari Park in Denmark. During his time at Colchester, he sired six calves. Otto's latest offspring, Dara, was born on 13 January. White rhinos are listed as "near threatened" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature red list of threatened species.
