Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) funds trials of long-duration batteries in remote Western Australia, aiming to reduce emissions and increase accessibility of renewable energy for isolated communities. Horizon Power will test two novel battery technologies: a Redflow zinc-bromine flow battery and BASF's molten salt battery. Successful trials could help establish new energy storage forms, aid in deploying Horizon's energy management systems in 34 regional areas, and ensure reliable, affordable energy for off-grid residents.
