2023: Australian Defence Force seeks out-of-court resolution for crocodile attack in Queensland, facing work health & safety charges.

The Australian Defence Force seeks an out-of-court resolution after two soldiers were attacked by a 2.5m crocodile in far north Queensland. In August 2023, Commonwealth prosecutors charged the Department of Defence with breaching work health and safety laws for the soldiers' injuries. The matter was briefly heard in Brisbane Magistrates Court, and the Department had previously sought to strike out elements of the case. Crown Prosecutor Polina Kinchina seeks an adjournment to find a resolution to the case.
