18-year-old Victoria girl, Samantha Krysia Sims-Somerville, died from alcohol and a date-rape drug; prosecution service declined charges due to insufficient evidence.
B.C. Prosecution Service decided not to proceed with charges in the death of an 18-year-old Victoria girl, Samantha Krysia Sims-Somerville, who died from a toxic combination of alcohol and a date-rape drug in April 2021. Her mother, Tracy Sims, had gathered evidence, including text messages and social media posts, alleging two people were involved in her daughter's death. Despite her efforts, the prosecution service determined the charges did not meet the required standard of a substantial likelihood of conviction.
