The Voice referendum was defeated, leading to a shift in politics and diminished appetite for truth-telling and treaties. Closing the Gap progress disappoints. Recent initiatives include $700m for Remote Jobs & Economic Development, a National Commissioner for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children & Young People, Justice Policy Partnership support, community Wi-Fi for 20 communities, and Junior Rangers. A $4bn remote housing plan by Commonwealth & NT governments is welcome, but the effectiveness of these measures in turning the ship around remains uncertain.
