Tunisian maritime authorities have rescued 1,178 undocumented immigrants off its eastern coast and halted 28 attempts to illegally cross the sea to Italy. The authorities intercepted vessels near Sfax province, confiscating 15 boats and arresting nine individuals. Despite the implemented measures by local authorities, the number of undocumented immigrants attempting to reach Italy continues to rise.
