President Bola Tinubu may announce a new minimum wage on May 1, International Labour Day, to align with the government's commitment to raising wages. The National Minimum Wage Committee is working to finalize negotiations, with the expectation that the new minimum wage will take effect from April. The current minimum wage of N30,000 will cease to be valid on March 31. Organised Labour has warned state governors that they will not accept anything less than full implementation of the new minimum wage, as they are prepared to go into battle with governors who oppose it.
