Panama-flagged crude oil tanker catches fire, struck by unidentified projectile off Yemen in the Red Sea; crew extinguishes fire, vessel and crew safe.

A Panama-flagged crude oil tanker caught fire and was struck by an unidentified projectile off Yemen on Saturday, in the latest attack on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, 23 nautical miles northwest of the Red Sea port of al-Mukha. UKMTO reported the fire was successfully extinguished by the crew, with the vessel and crew reported safe and continuing to their next port of call. Months of attacks in the Red Sea by Yemen's Houthi militants have disrupted global shipping, with firms having to re-route to longer and more expensive journeys.
