Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is set to produce a Prince jukebox musical for Universal Pictures, featuring songs from the iconic artist. The film, set to have a script by Bryan Edward Hill, will be a fictional story and not a biopic, as the estate sees the 1984 film Purple Rain as covering Prince's story. The production team includes Coogler and partners at Proximity Media, Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, along with Universal Music Publishing Group chair Jody Gerson and Troy Carter of Atom Factory.
