The Muscogee Creek Nation held a memorial service on the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, where 800 Native American warriors, women, and children lost their lives defending their homeland from U.S. forces in 1814. The battle, led by future U.S. President Andrew Jackson, marked the beginning of white settler expansion in the Southeast and the forced removal of the Muscogee from the region. The tribe plans to establish a permanent memorial at the site.
