34-year-old Joshua Steward Holder, a former Newport resident, has been charged with second-degree murder-distribution drugs, death by distribution, and sell/deliver a Schedule II controlled substance in the overdose death of Santana James on May 30, 2022. James died from cocaine and fentanyl toxicity. Holder is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for unrelated drug convictions.
