62-year-old Joseph George Sutherland, who confessed to raping and murdering two women in Toronto in 1983, has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 21 years. Sutherland's DNA was linked to both crimes through new investigative genetic genealogy techniques, providing closure to the families of Susan Tice, 45, and Erin Gilmour, 22, whose killings remained unsolved for nearly 40 years.
