Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon vetoed an abortion access bill and signed legislation banning gender-affirming care for minors.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon vetoed a bill imposing significant barriers on abortion access but signed legislation banning gender-affirming care for minors. The rejected bill would have required surgical abortion facilities to be licensed as outpatient surgical centers, added costs and bureaucracy for clinics, and mandated ultrasounds before surgical or pill abortions. Governor Gordon stated the measure would have been vulnerable to legal challenge. Meanwhile, the governor signed a bill banning gender-affirming care for minors, acknowledging that it provides protections for minors while also believing the government should not interfere in personal family matters.
