West Vancouver Memorial Library launched a mason bee borrowing program during the pandemic for pollination and education.

West Vancouver Memorial Library launched a unique initiative during the pandemic, offering mason bee colonies for borrowing to aid with pollination. The "bungalow" bungalows, made from plumbing piping, house the bees and can be borrowed along with 10-15 mason bee cocoons by library cardholders. The program aims to educate the public about the importance of pollinators and the ease of raising these gentle insects, which are native to British Columbia and work as solitary pollinators.
