Victoria and Queensland will lead a national ban on engineered stone, due to its deadly properties, from July. All states and territories have discussed a national ban, with Western Australia implementing a six-month transition period until 1 July 2024. Pre-existing contracts will be honored during the transition. The ban aims to reduce risks of silica-related diseases in the building and construction industry.
