1st day of NZ SailGP racing cancelled due to Hector's dolphins presence in the race area.

The first day of the New Zealand SailGP racing event was cancelled due to the presence of endangered Hector's dolphins in the race area. The venue hosts around 1,000 of the approximately 10,000 remaining Hector's dolphins, and racing cannot take place while dolphins are on or near the course. Observers were assigned to spot dolphins and warn organizers if they strayed too close to the race area. Sunday's racing is expected to proceed, subject to dolphin activity.
