Southern University names John K. Pierre as new chancellor for Baton Rouge campus. Pierre, currently head of Southern University's law school and interim executive vice president of the Southern University System, was chosen by the Board of Supervisors after being recommended by President Dennis J. Shields. Pierre has served in faculty and administrative roles at Southern University since 1990.
