The US-Mexico border hit a record-high of 189,922 migrant encounters in February, surpassing the previous February record of 166,010 in 2022 and 156,000 in the same month last year. The increase in encounters includes interactions at formal ports of entry, but does not account for undetected border crossings. In the fiscal year starting October 1st, 70 migrants on the FBI terror watchlist attempted to enter the US illegally, with 11 of them trying in February alone.
