Federal Transit Administration proposes national standards for rail worker protection following high fatalities and injuries.
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is proposing new national standards to protect rail workers, following 22 fatalities and 120 serious injuries between 2008 and 2022. The FTA's proposed rule would require transit agencies to adopt a worker protection program with minimum elements like safety briefings, document a manual detailing the program, and provide training for on-track safety workers.
