Researchers unravel plants' "cry for help" response in fighting disease.

Chinese researchers from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences discovered a "cry for help" response in plants, which assembles rhizosphere microbiomes to defend against pathogen invasions. The plants trigger this response when exposed to nonpathogenic bacteria simulating an attack, building microbiomes around their roots and soil. This mechanism, involving the microorganism Devosia, provides long-lasting protection and can significantly impact plant growth and health.
