Canada's federal government has reported a budget deficit of $25.7 billion for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, up from a $6.4 billion deficit in the same period last year. The increase in government spending, which grew at twice the pace of revenue, has contributed to a 36% rise in interest payments, which now total $39.2 billion. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will present the budget on April 16.
