Boom Supersonic's prototype XB-1 jet successfully completed its inaugural flight, marking a significant milestone towards the return of supersonic travel. The XB-1, the first independently developed supersonic jet, reached 7,120 feet and 273 mph during the test flight. The aircraft shares technology with Boom's supersonic airliner, Overture, which is designed to carry 64-80 passengers at twice the speed of subsonic airliners and has secured 130 orders and pre-orders from American Airlines, United Airlines, and Japan Airlines.
