150,000-adult study in BMJ found exercising once or twice weekly for 30-60 min reduced death risk by 15% compared to non-exercisers.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar, a Hyderabad-based neurologist, said exercising even once a week is better than no physical activity. A study in the BMJ journal followed 150,000 adults for two decades and found that people who exercised once or twice per week had a 15% lower risk of death compared to those who did not exercise. The benefits were seen when the exercise duration was at least 30-60 minutes.
