Tennessee has become the first U.S. state to enact a law, known as the ELVIS Act, protecting musicians from unauthorized use by artificial intelligence (AI). The law, signed by Governor Bill Lee, amends Tennessee's existing personal rights protection law to include safeguards for songwriters, performers, and music industry professionals' voice from AI misuse. The legislation aims to address concerns about generative AI cloning models and services that enable human impersonation and create unauthorized fake works.
