RCMP officer rescues family from sinking car in St. Lawrence River, no injuries reported.
An RCMP officer from Cornwall-based detachment was praised by SDG OPP for rescuing a family of four, including a mother and three children aged 20, 11, and 5, whose car plunged into the St. Lawrence River on March 10th. The vehicle had left the road and submerged partially, trapping the occupants inside. A passing RCMP officer, whose identity was not disclosed, assisted in getting all four people out of the vehicle and to safety. No physical injuries were reported, and the incident is still under investigation by SDG OPP.
