Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has introduced a statewide law enforcement accreditation program via executive order, setting Ohio apart by assessing police departments on policies such as use of force, hiring standards, professional conduct, bias-free policing, crisis intervention, and community engagement. The program aims to create statewide standards, encourage transparency and accountability, and attract new recruits. The first group of accredited departments is expected by the end of the year.
