Maersk, the world's largest container shipping company, does not resume Red Sea sailings due to elevated risk despite EU security operation.

Maersk, the world's largest container shipping company, has decided against resuming sailings through the Red Sea due to an elevated risk level, despite an EU security operation to increase safety in the region. Maersk suspended Red Sea traffic on January 5 and has since redirected ships via the Cape of Good Hope. The EU launched a naval mission in the southern Red Sea in February to protect the vital maritime trade route from drone and missile attacks by Yemen's Houthi militia. Maersk stated that it continues to believe that sailing via the Cape of Good Hope offers better supply chain stability.
