Japan's JAXA and Mitsubishi plan a profitable H3 rocket launch business with six launches a year, aiming to compete with SpaceX in the satellite market.
Japan's space agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries aim to establish a profitable launch business with their new H3 rocket, following its successful first flight. The H3 rocket is being developed as a successor to the current mainstay H-2A, which despite its 98% success rate was less competitive due to its high launch costs. The firms plan at least six launches a year to meet growing demand for communication, observation, and security satellites in a market currently dominated by SpaceX.
