Interstate 280 in San Jose was shut down in both directions on Thursday due to a person experiencing a mental crisis at the Meridian Avenue overpass. Police responded to the scene and safely resolved the issue within 45-50 minutes, allowing traffic to resume. Southbound traffic was diverted onto Highway 17, and northbound traffic was diverted off the freeway at the Bascom-Leigh exit.
