The Indian government has allocated Rs 6212.03 crore for the recapitalisation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to maintain a minimum 9% capital-to-risk (weighted) assets ratio. RRBs, founded in 1975, serve rural communities, small farmers, laborers, artisans, and entrepreneurs. The banks' performance has improved, with a CRAR at 13.83% and a record-high consolidated net profit of Rs 4,974 crore in FY22-23. Credit expansion has raised the consolidated credit-deposit ratio to 72.13%.
