HS2's Chiltern Hills tunnel completion marks a milestone for London-Birmingham high-speed rail link.

HS2's first chapter of its longest tunnel under the Chiltern Hills completed with Cecilia's arrival. The 2,000-tonne machine, joined by twin Florence, created twin-bore tunnels up to 80 metres deep, excavating three million cubic metres of chalk and installing 56,000 pre-cast concrete tunnel segments each. The completion of this tunnel marks a significant milestone for the high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham, reducing trip times and alleviating traffic on the West Coast Mainline.
