Former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste has died at the age of 63, reportedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Jooste's death comes after South Africa's financial regulator fined him R475m for making and publishing false, misleading or deceptive statements about the company. Steinhoff, a multinational retailer, was embroiled in a major accounting scandal in 2017, leading to an investigation by Deloitte.
