William & Mary University in Virginia will honor former US Defence Secretary Robert Gates with a new academic building named after him. Gates, who holds the honorary position of chancellor at the university, will see the building, Robert M. Gates Hall, become a hub for disciplines such as economic development and inequality, geopolitical conflict, national security, and conservation. The $30 million donation for the building project comes from an anonymous donor.
