Water board prohibits Cauvery and borewell water use for rain dance and pool parties during Holi in Bengaluru due to severe water shortage.

Amid Bengaluru's water crisis, the city's water board has issued an advisory prohibiting the use of Cauvery water and borewell water for rain dance and pool parties during Holi celebrations at commercial establishments. The city faces a shortage of about 500 million liters of water per day against a requirement of 2,600 MLD, and the board has previously banned the use of drinking water for washing cars, swimming pools, gardening, and other activities, imposing fines for violations. Despite these restrictions, some hotels and resorts continue to host rain dance events as part of their Holi celebrations.
