UK households waste enough vegetables daily to fill Wembley Stadium's seats eight times due to them going off before consumption, causing £17bn worth of ingredient waste.

A WRAP study during the fourth annual Food Waste Action Week reveals that UK households waste enough vegetables daily to fill Wembley Stadium's seats eight times due to them going off before consumption. The waste amounts to £17 billion worth of ingredients nationwide. The issue is driven by multipacks, lack of single-item availability, and 44% of respondents citing the absence of single items as a problem. 74% of respondents believe supermarkets should sell fruit and vegetables without packaging, with six in ten stating they would buy more loose items if given the chance.
