UK DWP owes £500m in back pay to 80,000 people, primarily married women, due to state pension underpayments.
The UK's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) owes £500m in back pay to over 80,000 people, including married women, widows and pensioners, each potentially due £6,250 on average. A review found 82,323 underpayments, mainly affecting married women who reached state pension age before April 2016. The government department plans to update on how much has been repaid by the end of March.
