New Zealand's Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey announces a new mental health and addiction peer support service for hospital emergency departments, aiming to improve outcomes for mental health crisis support seekers and free up more time for clinical staff. The initiative is a response to the fact that at least 13,000-14,600 people present annually to Emergency Departments (EDs) with mental health issues.
