The Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA) and Meta have partnered to launch a WhatsApp tipline on March 25, called the Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU), to detect and respond to AI-generated synthetic media in India. The tipline allows users to forward audio notes and videos for assessment of their authenticity, offering support in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, and providing users with feedback on the content they submit. The initiative is part of Meta's efforts to collaborate with industry stakeholders in the fact-checking ecosystem and combat the spread of AI-generated misinformation.
