Bangladesh's government has asked private companies to import 83,000 tonnes of rice within a month to control the rising retail rice prices. The Ministry of Food has granted permission to 30 rice importers, including 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice and 34,000 tonnes of non-boiled atap rice. The move aims to address the gap before the upcoming boro harvest, expected to require a maximum of one month.
