Alabama has launched a new Victim Notification System (VNS) website, allowing crime victims and concerned citizens to receive updates on changes to an offender's status, including upcoming parole hearings, releases for medical reasons, and changes in custody. The system, established by state law in 2011, aims to provide victims with notice and knowledge post-conviction. Over 2,000 Alabamians have registered for notifications.
