US and India collaborate to hold accountable those involved in a plot to assassinate Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, with Indian national Nikhil Gupta charged by US federal prosecutors.

The US is working with India to hold accountable those behind a plot to kill Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, according to the Biden administration. Indian national Nikhil Gupta was charged by federal prosecutors in November, in connection with the foiled assassination plot. US federal prosecutors claim that Gupta was working with an Indian government employee and had agreed to pay an assassin USD 100,000 to kill Pannun, who resides in New York City. India has established a probe committee to investigate the allegations, and the US is urging them to work quickly and transparently to ensure justice is served.
