Taiwan's Foreign Minister reveals China established military bases near Taiwan's Itu Aba island in the South China Sea.
Taiwan's Foreign Minister, Joseph Wu, revealed China has established large military bases on three islands near Taiwan's primary holding, Itu Aba, in the South China Sea. Despite tensions in the region, Taiwan is not looking to escalate conflicts and is considering peaceful means to resolve the South China Sea issue. Both Taiwan and China claim most of the South China Sea as their own territory, with Taiwan controlling only one islet, Itu Aba. China's recent land reclamation and military facility construction in the region have raised concerns in Washington and the wider region.
