Neuroscientists at University of Galway discover breakthrough in stem cell-based brain repair therapy for Parkinson's using collagen hydrogel.

Neuroscientists at University of Galway have discovered a breakthrough in stem cell-based brain repair therapy for Parkinson's disease. Transplanting immature cells into a collagen hydrogel significantly improves their survival and maturation in the brain, aiding in the replacement of dead brain cells in patients with the degenerative condition. The research team, led by Professor Eilís Dowd, is funded by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and Science Foundation Ireland, with plans to continue developing the hydrogel using a $300,000 grant.
