Facing EV market slowdown, Fiat is considering adding a mild hybrid engine to its electric 500e, originally launched in 2020. The gas option could replace the previous 500 model which will no longer be compliant with European safety and cybersecurity rules from July. Fiat is expanding its production capacity for the 500e from 77,260 units to 175,000 units in response to potential increased demand.
