Consumers Association of Penang seeks Royal Commission of Inquiry for possible tobacco and vape industry influence in removing Generational Endgame provisions from Malaysia's smoking bill.

The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) is calling for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into allegations that lobbying from the tobacco and vape industries influenced the Malaysian government's decision to remove the Generational Endgame (GEG) provisions from the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill. CAP claims the tobacco and vape industry's lobbying violates the World Health Organization's Framework Convention for Tobacco Control. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has denied these claims, stating that the removal of the GEG provisions was due to a constitutionality issue, not pressure from the tobacco and vape industry.
