31-year-old Dame Laura Kenny, Britain's most successful female Olympian, retires from cycling to prioritize family life.

Britain's most successful female Olympian, Dame Laura Kenny, has announced her retirement from cycling, choosing to prioritize her family life over competing in the Paris Olympics this summer. The 31-year-old won five Olympic golds and seven World Championship titles in her career, and was the first British woman to win gold medals at three consecutive Olympics. Speaking to Woman's Hour presenter Emma Barnett, Kenny expressed that the sacrifices of leaving her children and family to train and compete were too great, and she felt it was time to step back from professional cycling.
