The UK's Department for Transport is investing £38.3m in safety improvements on 17 of England's deadliest roads, as part of the Safer Roads Fund. The aim is to save 385 lives over the next 20 years by creating new junctions, clearer signage and road markings, and improved pedestrian crossings and cycle lanes. The Safer Roads Fund has already invested £147.5m in 82 high-risk roads to improve safety.
