A new study in Frontiers in Psychology suggests that letting go of unattainable goals can prevent worsening satisfaction in relationships where one partner has sleep problems. This ability, called goal disengagement, is the mental flexibility to abandon unachievable goals. The study found that people with this ability maintain relationship satisfaction even when their partner has sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or snoring.
