A rare Madagascar Fanaloka pup was born at Nashville Zoo, making it the fifth spotted Fanaloka in the facility.

A rare fanaloka pup, native to Madagascar and weighing only a quarter of a pound, was born at Nashville Zoo on March 10 and is now the zoo's fifth spotted fanaloka. Fanaloka, native to Madagascar, are nocturnal animals living in lowland and rainforest areas. Their vulnerability is largely due to habitat destruction. Nashville Zoo is the only U.S. facility housing the elusive species.
