The Foundation for AIDS Research event, founded by Elizabeth Taylor in 1985, has raised $264 million for HIV/AIDS research since its first Cannes gala in 1993. Cher previously hosted one of the first amfAR events in Cannes and has been honored with the organization's Award of Inspiration.
